Undergraduate Research Assistants

As a research assistant, you will be involved in every step of the research project–from designing the study, to helping collect data, to visualizing and interpreting data, and presenting or disseminating the research, either through poster presentations or manuscripts. Being a member of the lab involves attending a biweekly meeting and making a two-semester commitment (usually of 6 hours/week).

One thing we’ve noticed about WashU students is that they often have a lot of exciting things going on. And that’s really wonderful for them. However, before you complete an application, it’s worth considering if you have sufficient bandwidth to be a part of the lab. For example, if you don’t have at least a few hours free on at least a few days per week, you might not be the best fit for the lab. Although a lot of our lab work is remote, it’s important to ensure that you have enough time to dedicate to the lab. Thus, we probably won’t reach out if we get the sense that you won’t have time!
